DNS delivering ads? -
could dns (which set isp) making money when go online?
i know 'web-page unavailable, @ these amazing ads'-pages (when user tries reach wrong address) bring them little bit of money. interested in case.
could serve me ad (as pop-up or pop-down) when go 'normal' page without consent of web-page itself? kind of add-on, ask page example.com/foe, example.com site serves page foe, dns sends unrequested pop-under ad.
am paranoid, or happening? note: know how block ads, pop-ups/under , on. want investigate better how dns services trying make buck (or cent) here , there.
not exactly. way dns works straight forward; host web server have purchased domain name of noads.com for. when purchase domain name you're going setting point ip address of server. now, servers can host ads if wish, or setup redirects when requests, "noads.com/hi" ad proclaiming wonders of cereal high in fiber. however, @ point you're past point of dbs resolution. request noads.com resolved ip address. /hi folder accessed after resolution took place , webserver may have presented ad or redirected programmer of website chose.
as isp sneaking in there... bad business, if not suable offense, add records dns server direct ip other 1 registered. check use www.checkdomain.com find domain should be, , type in name of domain want reach. use command line (press windows key , r bring run prompt, type cmd , press enter) there type nslookup . show ip should directed , ip being directed to.
one last parting thought, dns not random function. meaning can't set "if, then" on it. if request website it's going go same ip. reason wouldn't if there multiple host records pointing different ips single name. don't believe worry about, isp servers point official "internet" servers tended , kept free of error.
hopefully explains satisfaction. please feel free ask clarification if not clear.
thanks!
